Exchanges

General information

AVEM carries out two types of international exchange programs: clinical (SCOPE) and research (SCORE). It also manages a national exchange program (SCONE).

These are endorsed by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and by various scientific societies such as the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) and the World Federation of Family Medicine (WONCA).

Since 2003, all students enrolled in the degree in Medicine at the Universitat de València can participate in either of the two exchange programs offered by AVEM.

These exchange programs are managed by the students of our faculty.

AVEM’s Exchange Team (with the help of the Universitat de València and collaborating hospitals/centers) is in charge of finding tutors, accommodation, making the necessary arrangements and resolving any possible incident for those students who visit our city.

It is also responsible for processing everything necessary for students of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry to visit other countries.

Thanks to this Exchange Program, considered the largest student mobility program created by and for students, more than 15,000 medical students from all over the world have the opportunity to participate in a clinical and/or research internship program annually.

The internships carried out during the mobility program include a tutor who guides and sets the objectives for the student during the exchange period.

The nature of the exchanges that AVEM manages is bilateral: for every student who has the opportunity to visit the city of Valencia, its hospitals and research centers, a student from our faculty can visit the same country.

This results in a balanced opportunity system, both for our outgoings, who get to know other healthcare systems and cultures, and for the incomings, who learn from our own.
